Twin Towers

Ancient monuments play a central role in shaping life around them, as is the case with the Shaher ki Masjid in the heart of Champaner, at the foot of Pavagadh.

Below windy hills,

God’s house rears twin towers;

Empty of images,

full of devotion.

Through doors unclosed,

Like Heaven’s own,

The whispering wind mixes

With the voices of prayer.

With the wind for musician,

The faithful kneel,

Saying in silence

What all the world knows.

The hidden Lord

In graceful silence speaks,

Reassures His devotees

Of the wonder of Creation.
